EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a therapy used to help people recover from distressing events and the problems they have caused, like flashbacks, upsetting thoughts or images, depression or anxiety.
EMDR practitioners use eye movements to help your brain to process correctly the memory you have associated with your distressing experience. This therapy can be helpful to overcome distress and allow your self to feel more able to manage anxiety provoking events in the present and future.
